Of Sepia and Relief and Thrifting....

Today, I am linking up my heart's thoughts with Leigh for her Thrifty Thursdays here:

http://lbratina.blogspot.com/

Every 3-D relief item in this post was thrifted from one place or another over the YEARS.... Know what you like...Be patient...Feather with Thriftiness. :-)

A relief is a sculptured artwork where a carved or modelled form is raised (or in the case of a sunken relief, lowered) from a plane from which the main elements of the composition project (or sink). Raising or lowering the plane is achieved by removing material not relevant to the image. In the case of sunken relief, the material composing the central image is carved out.

An object such as a coin would be considered "low" relief.

In the following objects of art/decor from my home... the work would be considered "high" relief.

Anyone who follows along here at my e-journal blog knows this.....

I like blue and white color combinations. soothing and calm....

I like objects made from iron and metal. forged and strong from the heat-induced transformation.

You may or may not know....

I like sepia photos. images of by-gone days before color, and black and white photography.

I like 3-D relief art.. it makes me think of the Artist chiseling and carving and shaping...very much like God works on me....all the time...to make something more lovely, more detailed than what was first put on the workbench...giving depth to areas where I need it...raising up the main character and attributes HE wants others to see in a daughter of HIS...

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. Psalm 139:14

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work;I will triumph in the works of Your hands. Psalm 92:4

The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands. Psalm 138:8

oops! Did I just become PG-13 ?????

But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand. Isaiah 64:8

God's blessings to all visitors who dropped by my little blog today. A place where I can share, have fun, express something that is on my heart, and be grateful for wonderful people out there who also do the same! It's a small world. Hugs to all my bloggy sisters.... Have an outstanding day...

Don't forget our military heroes who are both nearby and in remote places of this world defending and protecting the freedoms of all people. God BLESS, STRENGTHEN, and PROTECT them.

Everything is so beautiful, Julie. I know if
I walked through your front door I would love
how every room is decorated. We have the very
same tastes it seems. My favorite item today
is the darling bunnies plaque.
Hugs,
Sandy

Walking through your home would be a feast for my eyes and soul! I am an incredibly bland decorator, although I do enjoy lovely things when I see them. I just don't have that "eye" for picking things out myself, but maybe there's hope for me yet. You are inspiring me with these pictures. :-)

Beautiful...I love this kind of work too. Many of our older temples and churches here have this kind of work in them, those early settlers who came from other countries really knew how to do this sort of thing by hand! :D

Dear Julie, I come to you to ask you to pray for us, specifically for my husband. There is a serious matter, it's consuming me tonight. I am very scared , I fear for him... I am worried for my kids. It is way complicated to give you details, but God knows what it is that is taking our peace away. Can you please pray that 'this matter' won't have serious consequences, that his benefits won't be changed for this.... I am very very afraid, I know Jesus is with Us and He will take care of us, but still.... the fear is great, so much in jeopardy. Thank you dear sister. Hugs.

Julie, my dear bloggy sis... thank you for your prayers. Once again saved by Our Lord. After the storm we have peace. Oh how much I love peace ♥. There were some anxious moments. At times my prayers where only a mumble. But just as You said, He knew the heaviness in my heart and He took it away. Hugs and hugs ;)...

Oh Julie, I can see that if we went shopping together there would have to be duplicates to keep us both happy. Love love all of your gorgeous reliefs, especially the cherubs! xoxo ~Lili
