Monday Scuttlebutt....

"scuttlebutt" ~ hearing through the grapevine, out of the pipeline, spread by word of mouth....rumors....

I heard the word "scuttlebutt" the first time when I watched "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison" an old Robert Mitchum movie. He was quite young in this movie, a Marine Corporal, who ended up shipwrecked on a Pacific island with a nun left there, (Deborah Kerr) and had to protect the both of them from Japanese troops who came ashore and built a base.
A GREAT MOVIE!!!!! If you haven't seen it...DO!

Okay, so here's the long and short of the scuttlebutt at Camp Woodberry ~ here in our little neck of the woods in NC.

Four Weeks down, ????? to go in our journey of Kurt in Iowa and the rest of us here in NC. Looking forward to his return the Wednesday of Thanksgiving week. He really likes it there, and says there IS lots of corn.

My mom is still "hanging in there"~ about the same, and yet NOT Really... She is now down to 83 pounds. This part of the journey is hard for her mostly, but also for my dad, and those of us who watch and have to cope with it.

Both Kam and Justin just purchased their own vehicles. I am proud of them for their determination and discipline to save all their money and pay cash. NO PAYMENTS!! RAH for them.

Kam loves his car... a shiny black Honda Civic sport coupe. However his key is randomly sticking in the ignition! Doesn't make for a happy dude! Getting it fixed this week. $$$$$$!!!! bless his heart.

Justin loves his truck...a big silver Toyota Tacoma Crew-cab with an off road package. He is tickled to have his own wheels to go and come as he pleases. He is looking forward to his 3 week post-deployment leave starting this week.

**These two bros are flying up to Iowa in a week and a half to see their dad, and check out Iowa City.

Kat is working to pay off school loans...and considering what she is going to do next year should we move.

Jonny is still working and continues his studies for his PT certification. He is going on a mountain camping trip in another week, and still raising support for his trip to Africa. (right after Christmas.)

I am adapting, overcoming, dealing with, conquering, floundering, frustrated, victorious, resigned, emotional, high, low, surrendering, all of these.. and daily being taught, shaped, and strengthened to concentrate ONLY on the present, where God's grace is. HE is daily my supply of strength and courage as I face new things and feelings. I feel like half of me is gone...really. God will use all of this to stretch and grow us..all for the better. Praising Him that He is in control of our lives today. My worries have a place to go...

That's the latest scuttlebutt...stay tuned! Can you believe it is NOVEMBER????

And here's a teaser for those of you who don't know the movie. Kat bought me a copy of this one, I liked it so much. :-) I love old movies.

Hugs to all my bloggy sisters. Have a great week.

Ah my sweet Julie. Yes, we are going thru much of the same struggle. You seem to pave the way first and are able to comfort and teach me a thing or two. For that I thank you. I am praying for you all.
I haven't gotten from you if you plan to join your man eventually. I know you are caring for you mom, and that must weigh heavy on your heart. You truly are just taking it one day at a time...trusting God. Yes, that is what we must do.

I am so grateful for your positive attitude even with all the fluctuations of emotions...I get them too. There is something refreshing about change and all though, isn't there? A new sense of hope for better things?

Okay, I'm tired and rambling on. I must end this now. Ha.

Love you bunches, and praying for you. xoxo

So sad for her and for all of you to go through this.Yep I love the word scuttlebutt also and I LOVED that movie I think this is when I fell in love with Robert Mitchum or maybe Thunder Road, where I came from all we ever got to see was old movies so this one I remember so well when I was a teenager in the 1960's and loved watching this movie. nancy settel
