Spiritual Sundays

Linking up with Charlotte and Ginger at Spiritual Sundays on this Sabbath....

http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/

In SCREWTAPE LETTERS by C S Lewis, Screwtape is instructing his junior devil Wormwood...

"Remember, always that He really likes the little vermin, and sets an absurd value on the distinctness of every one of them. When He talks of their losing their selves, He means only abandoning the clamor of self-will; once they have done that, He really gives them back all their personality, and boasts that when they are wholly His they will be more themselves than ever."

In her book, Strong Women - Soft Hearts, Paula Rinehart states the following after the above quote....

"Our human tendency in the whole idea of self-denial is to let go of the wrong stuff - repent of the wrong things. Longings, desires, passions, personality - these things are innate, God-given, His idea. The are not the primary stuff of repentance. The real villain is more willful.

I will make it happen - my idea, my way, my timing.

Self will always dispenses with trust. And when we won't trust God, we take matters into our own hands.

It's as though God has given each of us a song to sing, and He is the choir director. He motions when it's time to sound our notes and when to keep silent. He knows exactly how the song needs to be sung. We don't want to make the mistake of repenting of the song itself. He lays desires and longings on our hearts. The song, then, is what we sing to His glory." (Paula Rinehart)

May I sing....sing on key....and sing loud ....when it is my time to give glory to my Father. I desire to trust Him with all my days. After all, He has designed them and numbered them. He has put all that is in me , that makes me.....me! And I want to enjoy Him in it all as I walk this Pilgrim's Journey through this lifetime.

May I become wholly His, that I will be more myself than ever.

God is good....all the time...God is good. Praise His name.

Blessings to you this Sabbath.

Julie

Hi, Julie!

I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for the lovely comment you left me on my blog. I appreciate it and you so much. You noted my transparency within my blog... I have to tell you it's a little difficult for me because I tend to become overwhelmed with shame. I know it's silly because God has worked miracles in my life and I should share my testimony. However, your encouragement has led me to believe I'm doing the right thing to talk about my life... my past in order to perhaps help others.

Again, thank you and may God richly bless you. I'd like to follow if that's all right, and you may follow me if you like. :)

Your friend in Christ,
Georgia

If there is one word that I would use to describe you to someone else I would simply say, "Encourager". Thanks, Julie!

This book sounds like I would benefit from it. I told my husband I need to stop working so I have more time to read all of the books that I have learned about just from Spiritual Sundays.
Thank-you and God Bless,
Ginger
